How long does a repipe take?
Most single-family homes are a two to four day job depending on size and access. Water is off only during cutover, not the whole time.
PEX or copper?
PEX for most residential repipes — fewer joints, no pinhole corrosion, faster install, lower cost. Copper still makes sense on exposed runs and where an HOA or insurer requires it.
